The Full Story

Early in life, David Ogletree was diagnosed with autism, which made it difficult for him to interact with others and maintain employment. However, Ogletree was determined to live an independent life, so he applied at Vocational Guidance Services (VGS) in Cleveland, Ohio. Ogletree began work at VGS on an AbilityOne® contract in the Power Sewing Division and committed himself to training and advancing his skills at work.

Ogletree now serves as the last set of eyes for inspection on women’s dress slacks at VGS. As Final Inspection Processor for the past year, Ogletree is involved in a division that produces 100 percent of the slacks for the U.S. Army and Navy, and a vast majority for the Marine Corps. Average production is more than 500 slacks a day and 100,000 per year. In addition to valuable job skills and workplace experience, Ogletree has also gained the skills he needed and wanted to achieve a balanced and fulfilled life.
