AbilityOne Congressional Champions Program
In 2002, SourceAmerica and the National Industries for the Blind (NIB) created the AbilityOne Congressional Champions program to recognize Congress members who demonstrate dedication to serving disabled or blind constituents. Currently, 130 members of Congress are AbilityOne Champions and play a key role in advancing SourceAmerica’s legislative goals. Read testimonials from members of Congress.
Members become AbilityOne Congressional Champions by completing a four-step process:
- Visit with nonprofit agency (NPA) representatives at member's district or Washington, D.C. office.
- Tour the NPA AbilityOne contract manufacturing or service contract site(s).
- Certify that the office supports the Javits-Wagner-O'Day Act by using AbilityOne services or products in the Member's Washington, D.C. or district office.
- Voice support through a communication on behalf of the AbilityOne Program: such as a press conference statement; Congressional Record statement; or similar communication on social media.
