The AbilityOne® Program saves the federal government between $176 to $359 million annually. Annual total savings range from 7 to 14 cents per dollar spent on an AbilityOne contract. The estimated gross savings are primarily driven by reduced expenditures on:
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
- Medicare
- Medicaid
Each of these programs spends at least $35 to $40 million per year less than they would without the AbilityOne Program.
We have compiled this data to support local Wing Commanders in their conversations with their local community representatives.
