Practice Description
Training program provided for manager development and improvement.
Resources Needed
Subject matter experts/trainers
- Internal staff and external subject matter experts with knowledge of employee and leadership development
Labor Hours
- Time for trainers and employees to complete training annually
Funding
- Initial cost for startup materials, such as training curriculum
- Ongoing cost for gift cards provided to external training partners
- Ongoing cost of employee time and additional training materials
Implementation Process
Process
- Challenge University in an internal manager training program that requires managers to receive at least 40 hours of training per year.
- Training topics include, but are not limited to:
- Creating Bulletproof Documentations
- Effective Performance Evaluations
- Workplace Relationships
- Conflict Management
- Train-the-Trainer
- Diversity Awareness
- Trainers include internal staff and external subject matter experts from local community resources, such as universities, businesses, and counseling centers

- SOPs
- Processes and procedures for implementing and managing the training program
Outcomes/Results
- This program was recognized by CARF as a state-of-the art method for manager training
- The success of the program resulted in the creation of an Employee Growth and Development training program that extends to all staff at any employment level
- Approximately 1200 employees receive 8 hours of training annually
- Training topics include:
- Successful Time Management Skills
- Behavioral Based Interviewing
- Conflict Management
- Enhancing Self-Esteem
- Stress Management
- Creates a well-trained workforce and fosters positive company culture
- Improves training skills for internal staff
