Practice Description

All new vocational staff at Linden Resources make the 150-mile journey from Arlington, Virginia to Staunton, Virginia to visit the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) to learn firsthand about assistive technology.

Implementation Process

• All new vocational staff at Linden Resources make the 150-mile journey from Arlington, Virginia to Staunton, Virginia to visit the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center (WWRC) to learn firsthand about assistive technology. 
  • WWRC is part of the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services, the state’s vocational agency.  
  • During these visits, the WWRC assistive technology team meets with Linden Resources staff to learn more about how assistive technology can be used at home and in the workplace.
  • This allows Linden Resources staff to better understand what resources and equipment are available and to think creatively about ways to overcome barriers to employment for people with disabilities.
