SourceAmerica Applauds Congress for Passing Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
VIENNA, VA (July 11, 2014) SourceAmerica applauds Congress for passing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act this week. This legislation modernizes America's workforce and job training system and vocation rehabilitation services to help people with disabilities enter the workforce. As an advocate for people with significant disabilities representing more than 1,000 community-based nonprofit agencies and over 120,000 jobs for individuals with disabilities, we anticipate more individuals with disabilities will have the requisite tools and access to the workplace.
"This is an historic week in Congress. Members took a significant step forward in modernizing the workforce development system." said Bob Chamberlin, SourceAmerica President and CEO. "Proactive steps by Congress to enable training, education and employment services to people with disabilities is timely and critical given that more than 80% of people with disabilities are not in today's labor force."
